OIL LAMPS

Each oil lamp edition is made with high heat-resistant clay from my potter’s kick wheel-thrown original, with a pulled handle and a chopstick held in my teeth to form the spout.

Multiple glaze layers are applied by hand to create a variegated, marbleized glaze finish. After two or three kiln firings, a unique lamp emerges unlike any other lamp made.

We recommend that you burn Ultra-Pure® smokeless and odorless candle & lamp oil (99% pure liquid wax paraffin). Fuel is available at most major discount (Wal-Mart®), hardware, candle, gift and drug stores. You may add candle or oil-based scent to the reservoir for the aroma of a burning scented candle. Depending on the reservoir and flame size, your lamp will burn a max. of 55 hours per filling. The wick is a strand from a cotton mop-head and serves only as a vehicle for the vapors to burn and does not burn itself. Unless the oil is completely used from burning your lamp, the wick only needs to be set once and lit repeatedly without readjustment.

Never leave a burning lamp unattended. Due to the nature of clay’s non-smooth finish and oil lamp fuel, care should be taken in placing lamps on finely finished wood surfaces. Never burn a lamp near a wall, curtain, shelving, decorations or around pets or children. Always burn in a safe monitored environment for an open flame.
